Thunder Volleyball Club Partnership
Concordia Thunder Volleyball has partnered with the St. Albert/Sturgeon Volleyball Association (SAS Volleyball) to help develop future Thunder athletes in the Volleyball Alberta club system. Established in 2008, SAS Volleyball has grown to become one of the largest youth volleyball clubs in Alberta, serving St. Albert, Edmonton, and all communities in the greater-Edmonton area. The association will now be rebranded to the Thunder Volleyball Club, allowing them to use Thunder branding to mark a new era for St. Albert/Sturgeon Volleyball.
This partnership will allow CUE Thunder Volleyball to better engage with the club youth development system, promote the Thunder brand throughout Alberta, provide Thunder coaches and athletes opportunities to engage as role-models with club athletes, and give back to the grassroots level of volleyball in Alberta. An additional benefit of the partnership is the creation of the Thunder Volleyball Award, an annual scholarship of $1000 donated by the now rebranded Thunder Volleyball Club (SAS Volleyball) to one member of each of the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder Men's and Women's Athletic Volleyball teams. The recipient must be in satisfactory academic standing, be registered full-time, participate in all team functions and contribute to volleyball at the club level. Preference will be given to Thunder Volleyball Club Alumni.
