Thunder Fall Short in Saturday Matchup With Vikings

Thunder Fall Short in Saturday Matchup With Vikings

EDMONTON, AB (February 5, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder men's volleyball team welcomed the Augustana Vikings as they wrapped up their weekend series Saturday night. The Vikings took control early, withstanding numerous rallies from the Thunder, to take the match 3-0.

A nail biter of a first set saw both teams coming out strong and exchanging points back and forth. The Vikings found their rhythm and snuck away with the first set 25-23. The Vikings found their momentum and took an early lead and ultimately took the second set 25-15. The Thunder worked hard to keep things tight for most of the set before the Vikings took control and won the set 25-16 and closed out the match in straight sets.

Head coach Ken McLaughlin spoke after the game about his team's performance: "Augustana elevated their serving from last night, we were not able to get into any sort of a rhythm. We look forward to our final regular season weekend of matches."

The One Team Sports players of the game were #8 Evan Richards for the Augustana Vikings and #5 Wyatt Turnbull for Concordia Thunder.

Your Thunder welcomes the Lakeland Rustlers on Friday, February 11th to start the next weekend match up.
