Thunder Edge The Vikings In Five Sets

Thunder Edge The Vikings In Five Sets

EDMONTON, AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the visiting Augustana Vikings to close out their home and home weekend series. The back and forth affair went the full five sets, but the Thunder took the fifth set to take the match 3-2.

The first set started off tight with both teams exchanging leads, but the Thunder pulled away late to take the set 25-20. The Vikings started the second set off on fire, bouncing back from their first set defeat. They took the lead early and never looked back as they took the second set 25-15. The back and forth match continued as the Thunder bounce back in the third set, taking it 25-16. Needing to bounce back to keep themselves in the match, the Vikings came out and answered the call, taking the fourth set 25-20 to force a fifth set. However, once again this match proved to be back and forth as the Thunder bounce back in the final set to take it 15-9 and close out the match.

This concludes the home and home weekend series between the Thunder and Vikings, with both teams taking the win at home. They will meet again at the end of January with both teams looking to sweep the series.

The Kahunaverse Players of the Game were #10 Greg Kaliel for the Vikings, and #1 Marc Langevin for the Thunder.
