Thunder fall to the Vikings in 5

EDMONTON AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder took on the visiting Augustana Vikings in their second game of their weekend series. The Thunder fell to the Vikings in 5 sets improving their record to 11-7.

The Thunder came out strong and took the first set with a score of 25-19, it was hopeful that the momentum gained in the first set would carry over to the second, but the Vikings answered back. A huge set win of 25-17 tied up the series and the Vikings were able to use that momentum to go up one after a back-to-back set win in the 3rd set. The Thunder found their swing and defeated the Vikings in the 4th set pushing it to a 5th set. The Vikings started the 5th set off on the right foot, taking an early lead and being up by as many as 5 points, the Thunder were able to close in on the lead and the Vikings defeated the Thunder 15-11 in the final frame.

The Vikings have solidified their playoff spot with 26 points and will be facing off against The Kings University on February 8th. The Thunder will be taking on the NAIT Ooks next weekend. The Big Kahuna Player of the Game for the visiting Vikings is #17 Lyndon Varga and for the Thunder was #7 Keenan Forstey.
