Thunder takes the win in their home opener against the Briercrest Clippers

EDMONTON, AB (October 14th, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder opened their home schedule with a Friday night battle against the Briercrest Clippers. Creating a wide lead in the first period brought the Thunder home as they finish the game 5-2.

Both teams came out hungry in the first period, the Clippers #9 Alex Pellerin opened up the scoring in the first 15 seconds of the game to make it 1-0. Thunder responded to the goal with immediacy as we witnessed the next 5 goals for Concordia take place in the 1st period. Their first goal of the night scored by #18 Peter Tomaras, followed by #12 Isaac Leik, #19 Zach Carlson, #8 Brandon Wallis, and Tomaras with his second goal of the night. #37 Carlson Kurylo finding opportunities and grabbed three assists in the first period. The Clippers continued to fight well into the 3rd period and scored their second goal of the night by #15 Colton Aikens.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #30 Dominic Tmej and #37 Carson Kurylo. The Thunder will take on the Clippers for their second battle of the weekend, tomorrow afternoon at 2:45PM.
