Thunder Redeem Themselves with a 8-1 Win over the Vikings

EDMONTON, AB (October 29, 2021) -The Thunder were out for redemption this evening after a devastating loss to the Augustana Vikings last weekend. The Thunder proved their talent with their first win of the season in exhibition play, with a score of 8-1.

The first period started off with a bang. The Thunder scored 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game. The first goal was scored by #8 Brandon Wallis. Two minutes later a second goal was scored by the Thunder by #19 Zach Carlson. With 15 minutes left in the first period the third goal of the night was scored by #3 . # 8 Brandon Wallace had an exciting first period with the fourth goal of the game and a penalty shot. The score at the end of the first period was 4-0 Thunder.

The second period saw more back and forth play with a goal from #28 Charlie Gawlicki. Thunder goalie, #30 Griffin Bowerman, continued to show off his skill has he held the Vikings to 0.

The Third period was dominated again by the Thunder, outscoring the Vikings 3-1. The first goal of the third period was a Thunder goal scored by #14 Rylan Nivon. The second goal of the period was another Thunder goal scored by #16 Hunter Leslie. The third goal of the period by the Thunder was scored by #27 Tyler Schendel. Augustana put one by Thunder goal tender Griffin Bowerman with 3:32 left in the game. The lone goal by the Vikings was scored by #96 Jarod Houde.

Coach Joey Bouchard had this to say after the game "I thought our guys played really well for the full 60 minutes. We played a good structure game and executed very well. We were very disciplined, stuck to our game plan and had a good start to the game."

Forward for the Thunder Austin Schellenberg commented on the game saying "The game was really good. We stayed to the system really well. We did not have a lot of turn overs in the neutral zone and pucks went in the net. It was a fun game."
