Thunder Lose Heartbreaker to Wolves In OT

EDMONTON, AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder hosted the Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) Wolves in a Saturday afternoon matinee to close out their weekend series. It was a tightly contested back and forth affair that went into overtime, with the Wolves coming out on top 85-81.

The first quarter saw GPRC carry the momentum as they jumped out to an early lead and maintained it throughout the period as they lead 16-12 at the end. The Thunder cut into the Wolves' lead in the second quarter, but the tight contest continued as GPRC maintained their lead at the half 37-36. The third quarter saw the Thunder jump ahead to take a lead at the end of the period 56-52. In the fourth quarter, the back and forth narrative continued as the Wolves tied it late and neither team was able to jump ahead as regulation finished in a 73-73 tie. In overtime, the Wolves jumped out to an early lead in the period and never looked back as they took this one 85-81.

This concludes the weekend series between the Thunder and Wolves with both teams coming away with a win. The Thunder are on the road for a couple games before returning home on February 28 for senior's night and to close out their regular season home schedule.

The Kahunaverse Players of the Game were #8 Liam O'Hallahan for GPRC and #15 Ronald Bacon Jr. for the Thunder.
