Thunder Fall In Friday Night Action To The Vikings

Thunder Fall In Friday Night Action To The Vikings

EDMONTON, AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder took on the Augustana Vikings in Friday night basketball action. The game started out back and forth, but the Vikings came out strong in the second quarter and never looked back as they maintained their early lead right until the finish, taking this one 85-72.

The game started off as a tightly contested, back and forth affair with both teams exchanging early leads, with Augustana leading 19-15 heading into the second. The Vikings rode their momentum to a monstrous offensive output in the quarter, outscoring the Thunder by 14 in the quarter to extend their lead to 47-29 at the half. The Thunder fought back in the third, however, with their own pushback, cutting into the Vikings lead. While Concordia did narrow the gap, the Vikings held onto a 66-59 lead after three quarters. While Concordia pushed to tie the game in the fourth quarter, the Vikings were able to withstand the comeback attempt and ultimately protect their lead.

These two teams will meet again tomorrow night at Augustana where the Thunder will be looking to bounce back and split the weekend series.

The Kahunaverse players of the game were #9 Michael Stasuik for the Vikings and #6 Luka Korosec for the Thunder.
