Down to the Wire: Concordia Thunder Holds Strong in a Tight Battle with King's Eagles

(EDMONTON, AB) The Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder hosted the King's Eagles in an electrifying matchup, marking their first home game of 2024. In a game filled with intensity, the Thunder emerged victorious with a final score of 77-68.

The Thunder took control early, establishing a lead in the first quarter (19-13). #6 Jenna Rinsky led the charge, finishing the game with an impressive 25 points, including a stellar 10-13 from the free-throw line. #11 Rachel Harvey contributed significantly with 23 points and a solid defensive presence, tallying five blocks.

Despite a resilient effort from the King's Eagles, especially from Aneilia Ayotte with 19 points and Megan Aleman with a double-double (12 points, 12 rebounds), the Thunder maintained their lead throughout an extremely close game.

In the final stretch, the Thunder sealed the victory with a 12-8 quarter, securing their first home win of 2024. The team's defensive efforts, combined with successful free throws, proved crucial in closing out the game. Haley Cleland and Chloe DeKlerk contributed key plays to secure the win.

Up next, the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder will head North to take on the NWP Wolves in Grande Prairie next weekend. After this win, their current record stands at 5-7 for the season.
