Strong Third Quarter Puts Ooks Over Thunder

Strong Third Quarter Puts Ooks Over Thunder

Edmonton, AB (October 29, 2021) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) welcomed the NAIT Ooks Friday night in women's basketball exhibition action. A tight game early, the Ooks used a strong third quarter to take control of the game en route to an 88-72 win.

The first quarter started off as a relatively back and forth affair as both teams exchanged leads early on. Brooke Froment led the way for the third with seven points as the Thunder took the lead after the first quarter 22-21. The second quarter was again a tightly contested back and forth battle, with both teams sharing the lead. But Froment scored another six points in the second quarter to give her 13 in the first half and the Thunder took a 46-42 lead into the half. The third quarter was a different story, however. The Ooks came out strong, causing issues for the Thunder on offence. This caused a huge swing in the game as the Thunder were outscored 34-4 in the third quarter, and NAIT took a 76-50 lead after three. The Thunder were able to close the gap somewhat in the fourth quarter, lead by six points from Bronwyn Blayney, but they couldn't close the gap as NAIT took this one 88-72.

The Thunder exhibition season continues next Friday as The King's University Eagles pay the Thunder a visit to wrap up the Thunder's exhibition season home schedule.
