Thunder Find the Podium at ACAC Grand Prix #2

On Saturday afternoon Red Deer College hosted the ACAC Running Room Grand Prix #2 where some beautiful sunny weather helped guide the Thunder to the finish line.

In the women's open event, the pace was set by RDC Queen's runner Shayla Sklaruk who finished in 1st place with a time of 25:53 followed by Thunder's Ana Zulic who crossed the line with an excellent time of 26:06 to claim 2nd place. Jill Stewart of RDC would crack the podium as she posted a time of 26:26.

Fifth year runner Bailey Troccoli-Hughes (27:16) and rookie runner Taylor Chamberlain (28:58) also posted great times to help guide the Thunder Women's team to a 2nd place finish.

On the men's side, Thunder's Leonard Chesoo continues to dominate the circuit by posting another incredible time of 25:31 for 1st place. In second place was RDC King's runner Devin Saunder's who crossed the line at 28:25 followed by Trojans runner Brant Lauweryssen at 28:28.

The focus among many ACAC Cross Country Running teams will shift to Grande Prairie for Running Room Grand Prix #3 on Saturday, September 21. Grande Prairie will also be the site of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross Country Running National Championships on November 9, 2019.
