EDMONTON, AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the Grand Prairie Regional College (GPRC) Wolves Saturday afternoon to close out their weekend series. The Thunder dropped the first two sets, but came back in roaring fashion to win the final three sets, and take the match 3-2.
The Wolves jumped out to an early lead in the first set, and even though the Thunder pushed back to rally late, the Wolves hung on to take the set 25-22. The Wolves carried that momentum into the second set, once again maintaining control from start to finish, taking the second set 25-18. The Thunder roared back in the third set, however, coming from behind to take the set 25-23. The fourth set was a back and forth affair, but again the Thunder pulled away late to take the set 25-22. The fifth set was also jammed packed of back and forth action, with the Thunder taking the set 15-13 to close out the tightly contested affair.
This wraps up the weekend series between the Thunder and the Wolves; the two teams will meet again in January in Grand Prairie. The Thunder return to action at home next Saturday evening when they host the Lakeland College Rustlers.
The Kahunaverse players of the game were #14 Alexandra Pullishy for the Wolves, and #10 Valeria Trujillo for the Thunder.
