EDMONTON AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder have had a difficult time winning as of late. This Saturday they faced off against visiting, first place Red Deer College, who have been unbeatable in 5 games thus far. Concordia was looking for their first win of the season and started #42 Sam-Jaxon Visscher in net for his first ACAC start of his career. 2OT wasn't enough to declare a winner and the game ended in a 3-3 tie.
Halfway through the opening period the Kings capitalized on the man advantage giving them the first lead of the game. Less than 5 minutes later the Thunder answered back by a self-made rebound off the back boards to tie it up by Thunder Captain Adam Moghrabi. The King's answered back before the end of the first with the go-ahead goal with just over 2 minutes remaining in the period.
This seemed to be the theme of the game, back and forth action, goal, answer, goal, answer, until the 3rd period, the Thunder was down by one, just over 8 minutes left in the game and Chaseton Braid came up huge for what would be the tying, and last goal of the game. Not to say there weren't a number of opportunities for both teams finishing the third and in both OT, but #42 Sam-Jaxon Visscher and #39 Arik Weersink put up a wall in front of the net and shut down every goal opportunity presented.
